Really really love this place. Usually here for dinner, and we do like the Friday/Saturday buffet. Our favorites are the 4 seasons and the lobster sauce. Consistently yymmy!

The good news is I didn't get sick from the buffet. Most of the Chinese buffets are great until an hour or two later. I would definitely go back because it is a great bargain and you get a lot of food. I actually thought the food was decent-some dishes definitely better than others. Try to get to the buffet when they are just replenishing the food vs. when it has been sitting there. The cream cheese puffs were good. The beef and broccoli was decent. All the chicken dishes were good. Would love to try it at night and see how the individual orders are. I am pretty down on Chinese in the Twin Cities. If you have any great suggestions send them my way.

I guess I'll preface this by saying I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food, but this was pretty good! It's right near my work, and only $8 for the lunch buffet. It was much what you would expect-- a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. The buffet was pretty good, my favorites were the fried rice, the hot pepper chicken, and of course the cream cheese puffs. It was good for what it was, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here for lunch.

I had the buffet which was pretty awful. Maybe ordering from the menu is better. Waitresses were less than friendly. And whole place needs to be cleaned.

Tried their buffet yesterday at lunch. Hot and Sour Soup tasted like soap. egg rolls appeared to contain fennel (?!) and rest of dishes were tasteless. Items rated "spicy" appeared to just have a bit extra black pepper. Horrible.

The prices are very high for tiny portions. The food is chow mein is overly salty and the sesame chicken was all gristle and dark meat, no one else was happy with their food either. Never again.

I ordered take-out for lunch today. I got chicken chow mein. We got the food, drove back to work, and noticed a burned smell. Our windows were down and I presumed someone was doing some tar roofing (I am not joking). When we got back to the office, I found where the burnt tar smell was coming from. My noodles were burnt to hell. I don't mean they were overcooked, I mean the noodles were quite literally blackened. Imagine taking raw chow mein noodles, putting them directly on the flame and burning them until they are barely recognizable as a thing. That is what I mean by burnt. I took a bite of the steamed broccoli, and it was essentially uncooked. It was slathered in oil though, so I guess it qualifies for Chinese food in their book.... I decided to try to continue eating the chicken (it tasted decent, although the pieces were large, but whatever, not going to complain about that). That's when I bit into a big chicken rib bone. It was then that I promptly spirited the entire entree into the trash, dismissing it as definitely the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Seriously. It's noodles. I can make noodles when I am fall down drunk. I can't fathom how the cook didn't realize that in order to make noodles, YOU NEED WATER! And if you try to make the noodles without water, they burn, you might MIGHT look at the burnt blackened noodles and think to yourself "Hmmm....this doesn't look like food anymore." But no, evidently a glance of which an INFANT is capable of is too much to ask. Not going back. Not ever. STAY AWAY!

My boyfriend And I came all the way from Chicago, Il to visit the magnificent Mall of America and while there had a taste for some Chinese, of course we jumped on yelp and found nothing but good reviews for Red Moon Cafe and their food was nothing shy of the reviews- EVERYTHING was wonderful! I seriously could have slappedy mama because that is how good the orange chicken and the other dishes they had were. Even the waitress was so nice she was so short and cute she kept ckecking on us and making sure out drinks got refilled. The atmosphere was very relaxing and very friendly. The location tops it off because it's centered inside a small strip mall which is quiet and quaint. And when we were paying, we presented a coupon we had for the restaurant and they were very up beat about the coupon and encouraging us to sign up for their emailing list to recieve more special offers ad coupons..... I miss this place already!!

I LOVE IT!!! They are adding some new and fantastic recipes to the menu. Everyone should try the "Wanton ala Kwan" desert. MY recommendation is to ask the server for a good dish, I always pick the same old dishes and Ben Kwan recomended some amazing things. I was not disappointed. In fact I left fat and happy. I will go here everytime I'm traveling through Minnesota. DELICIOUS!!!!!!!

Why is fried rice in the midwest so moist? One shouldn't have to toss their fried rice into a pan at home to get the wetness out of it. I didn't get to see an actual dish, but the description of the chow mein was hilarious. It's basically soup, with those crispy noodles that you put in your salad. I'm being generous with a three, but they do have mock duck, and the service was prompt and friendly. I'd still have to believe there's slightly better Chinese food in the area.

I give this place 1 star for customer service. The food is actually pretty good but when they charge a ridiculous amount and don't try to mend it. I called to placed 3 separate "meal" orders. I went to pick up and the price was 45$ I asked what, why? She pointed out 12$ items plus 2$ more fried rice BUT if I ordered the pick 3 combo it would have been $8.80 each meal. She didn't try to mend it just quickly swiped my visa. It sucks there is a language barrier when ordering on the phone but still she knew what I meant by "meals" Pure Robbery!!!

I work in Eden Prairie and usually go to a buffet that is closer to me. However a co-worker told me about this one so I wanted to give it a try! I was super impressed! Staff was wonderful! And the food was probably the best Chinese buffet food I've ever had. Their fried shrimp was my favorite! This is now my favorite! I would much much rather go here then the other place.. and the price is about the same!

It's fresh and nothing soggy about the dishes which range from noodles to stir frys to steamed rice. If I lived closer, i could see this being a regular stop. I liked the combinations. Plenty of food for your buck. Gourmet quality. Service is authentic to say the least. If you know what I mean. ;)

I only gave it one star because the rice was ok..... Takeout ( four orders) tasted like leftover bad buffet food). I will NEVER go there again, beware.

We'll have to go back to this place again as the other reviews are overwhelmingly positive while our experience was just ok. Although there was a buffet we ordered a la carte. Kung Pao Chicken and Chicken with Vegetables. Neither was very remarkable, pretty bland but thankfully not oozing with oil like some others. After having visited about 6 Chinese restaurants in the area I still haven't found one that even met the Panda Express standards. The decor is basic like most Chinese restaurants and the service is friendly for a Chinese restaurant. The food really was pretty basic so 3 stars! Side Rant: What is it with Minnesota and Chinese food? ....Why is it so hard to find good Chinese cuisine here?. Maybe I've been spoiled by the consistently good Chinese in China Town in NYC or even in the Old City in Philadelphia...although I went there with Chinese friends as most waiters don't understand English!

Very small lunch buffet but staff was punctual. I was going to make this two stars but that'd only be from the vegetarian point of view. Given that my co-workers seemed to like it I decided to bump it up to three.

I will be back, this is now my Chinese restaurant in Eden Prairie. We started with the Canton Calamari which has the spicy symbol by it that I didn't notice. The spices on the calamari were perfect and they were served with a mixture of garlic, onion, and jalapeno. I didn't realize it was jalapeno when I spooned it in but it tasted so good I couldn't not eat it. The sauce served with it was also spicy in an irresistible way. I hid it from our wonderful server so she wouldn't try to clear it. Was the actual calamari a little chewy, yes but I would probably order it again because the flavors were so good. The menu choices looked amazing and I loved the sassy menu area titled "You, Eat This". The next time I go, that is where I will make my selection. Instead I came in bent on ordering Chow Fun and that I did. It was just what I was looking for, fantastic. Had so much left over you could hardly tell I had eaten any.

I must say, better than I expected. Previous reviews were mixed. The aura was a bit off. The stand alone steam table in the back of the restaurant creeped me out. I came late and the lunch buffet pickings were slim. But all in all, the food was very good. I really enjoyed the Hot and Sour soup. Several of the entrees were very well done while a few of the beaded items were, shall we say, 'overbreaded.' Nonetheless, worth a stop.

I'm writing this review after using the Groupon Now offer for half price lunch buffet. Right up front I'll say that was a very good value so if you want some quick, cheap and mediocre chinese food, this is a good choice. (If you want awesome and are willing to pay for it, go to Peiwei down the street.) Cream cheese wontons were half the size of most places. And what's the deal around here with that? Why are they cream cheese wontons at most places in MN and not Crab Rangoon like God intended?? They were very busy so I'll cut them some slack but worth noting they had a struggle to keep the buffet stocked. I tried a number of things off the buffet and my fave was the (somewhat) spicy sesame chicken. It was pretty much what you get everywhere. Again, I didn't come here with high expectations and I wasn't disappointed. Would I return? Maybe, especially with the deal.

Take-out is tricky: soy sauce, chopsticks, egg rolls in bag? did the order translate from the menu to phone call to the cook to the cashier to the drive home? No broccoli, for real no broccoli in my order. And, with all of this in mind, Red Moon nearly hit it out of the park. I ordered Chop Suey (I know, I know....the hot lunch ladies used to serve that in elementary school, but I had to try it!) and General Tso's Chicken. I'll start with the Chop Suey...which can only be defined as YUMMY! It was fresh, loaded with veggies, and light. Nothing like I remember Chop Suey tasting like as a child. 5 stars for this item. Now, for the General Tso's Chicken. General Tso's Chicken is usually one of the last items I would order based on a lifetime of experiences of thick coated deep fried nuggets drenched is super sweet sauce. This item was NOTHING like this. The sauce had a nice balance of sweet and spicy. The chicken was not thickly coated and almost tasted like it was pan fried. Overall, it was decent. But, I would only give this item 3 stars based on the chewiness and odd sogginess of the chicken. I am guessing the sogginess is the result of the transport time in a cardboard container? But, I would still probably try a different item menu next time. At the end of the day, this place is definitely worth a stop if you are in the EP area.

A local friend took me here for dinner when I was on a business trip in Minneapolis a few years ago. Perhaps it was my out-of-town urge to overeat, but when I left I had to unbutton my pants (in a good way, people!) and I didn't even have the buffet. Everyone there was super friendly, the restaurant was clean and welcoming, and the food wasn't overly heavy or greasy. Maybe it's because I'm used to LA, but it seemed like you got way more than what you paid for; your dollar goes far here.

Whenever I'm in the area for business, I try to stop by this place. I'm a big fan of all of their noodle dishes - they're nicely prepared without being too greasy or unhealthy like other Chinese places can be. They also offer a lot of vegetarian friendly dishes which I appreciate. I'd have to say the Ma Po Tofu is my favorite dish there!

Ok.. I don't know why my first review got filtered, so I'm hoping this one won't 'cause I just LOVEEEE this place everytime I'm back working in Eden Prairie, MN. I've been coming to this place sporadically for the last two years and I always get my favorite dish: Chicken Moo Goo Gai Pan. They make it the best here and I should know since 1) I'm asian and love my rice; and 2) I travel a lot for work as a consultant and am always eating at different restaurants in many different cities. This is a small family-owned restaurant and I love the service here. Everyone here is super nice and courteous. The fact that I come eat here almost everyday when I'm working there may be the reason why they treat me like family. I love Terry and Ben (the owner's son). Very funny and sweet people. My good friend who used to play for the Timberwolves (he's with the Caveliars now) even loves the food here. When he was living there in Minneapolis, he would always call me up and ask me for the name of this restaurant whenever he's driving by Eden Prairie to pick up some take out. I'm back home in Portland, OR now and I'm already missing the Chicken Moo Goo Gai Pan!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
